Our trip is 1/3 finished. It has gone so quickly and we had an extra busy day to finish off the first week.

~~English Lesson Presentations~~
The students used what they learned about Christchurch to put on some wonderful presentations that became little plays. All of us were so amazed by how much effort and care that was put into these presentations. All of the studnets challenged themselves to not only to use English but also be engaging and informational. We could feel the energy coming from each and every student.
※プレゼンですね。この日のために皆頑張ってたんですね。単なる説明ではなく、劇を取り入れたような仕上げにもなっているようですね。様々な工夫を凝らしたプレゼンになったようですね。

~~Maths Seminar~~
We returned to Geoff-sensei's old office to have a seminar on teaching math to younger students for the education students.
※カンタベリー大学のジェフ先生のオフィスがあった所。ここで児童教育学科と幼児教育学科の学生が算数の指導法を学びました。
Liz-sensei ran the lesson. Good handshake there!

The tools for teaching math are much different than what we have in Japan.
This looked like a ton of fun but I had to leave soon after it began to run the nutrition seminar.

Liz-sensei, a registered dietitian in New Zealand the closest thing to a 管理栄養士 in Japan, gave a very interesting seminar to the nursing and health students. Something that always interests me is that it's very important that idoine (ヨウ素) is put into the salt and bread sold in NZ as there have been deficiency issues in the past.
※As I was interpreting the lesson I didn't have the chance to take many photos.
※日本の管理栄養士に当たるリズ先生からの講義。看護、総健の学生もこの講義を受けました。Davidにはヨウ素の話が興味深かったようです。過去には欠乏していたヨウ素は、現在ではニュージーランドで売られている塩やパンにも含まれているんだそうです。この講義ではDavidは通訳をしていたため、写真はこれだけです。
~~Pizza Party~~
One week done time for a party!
※滞在も1週間となりました。ここでピザパーティを開催。
We waited for the UC studnets to be done with dinner then took over space for a little party. 14 pizzas and a bunch of salad was devoured.
※カンタベリー大学の敷地はとても広く、SCCがあるのは教育学部がある敷地です。他の学部へは通りを東に渡って、広いグランドを横切り、更に東へと進みます。今までは、歩いて約10分程度の所に夕食を食べに行っていましたが、今回は、SCC内で食事ができるためにとても便利になりました。しかし、このピザパーティをするためには、SCCに宿泊している他のカンタベリー大学生の食事が終わらないと、パーティをする場所がありません。そこで、学生の食事が終わるのを待って、やっとパーティができたようです。ピザは全部で14枚。それにサラダ。
Thanks to the help of Nicola-sensei's mixer we also made a pavlova!
