水曜日ということは英語の授業も半分終わったということですね。時が経つのは早いです。
Today was interview day. We went to the center of the UC campus and asked the students about their health. There were five groups and they had to ask at least 8 people. I was a bit worried that the students would be shy, but when we set them loose they just went for it and started asking away! I was so happy for them.
今日はインタビューの日です。カンタベリー大学のキャンパスにいる学生さんたちに、健康についてのアンケートをとります。5グループに分かれ、少なくとも8名にききます。本学の学生たちが恥ずかしがってできるか少し心配ですが、とりあえず学生さんたちに聞きにいったので、様子を見てみましょう。
Getting ready…準備はいいですか？
…and off they go! さあ、インタビュースタートです。
After lunch the nursing group got a session on CPR and first aid from the NZ Red Cross. Here Donna-sensei introduces herself to the class.
昼食後、看護学科のグループはＮＺ赤十字社によるＣＰＲと応急処置の授業です。Ｄｏｎｎａ先生が教えてくださいました。
First was how to check for consciousness.まず意識があるかの確認です。
They were very good at as acting as unconscious bodies.
皆、意識が無い人のふりをするのが上手ですね。本当に意識がないみたいにみえます。
Then they switched to the CPR dummies. These are the adult ones.
そのあとはＣＰＲ練習用人形で練習です。これは大人の人形。
Then the junior ones.これは赤ちゃんの人形。
For a new experience there was some baby CPR dummies. That looks very difficult, but a valuable skill to have.
赤ちゃんの人形でするのは初めてで、難しそうだけど、大切な訓練です。
Next, Donna-sensei gave an AED demonstration.
次に先生がＡＥＤを使ったデモンストレーションをしてくださいました。
Lastly there was practice using bandages.
最後に包帯の巻き方の練習です。

The food and nutrition students got to do a cupcake backing and decorating lesson with Taryn-sensei.
食物栄養のグループはカップケーキ作りとデコレーションの授業を受けました。こちらはＴａｒｙｎ先生です。
We made a fondant kiwi.チョコでキウイを作りました。

Using a piping bag was a new experience for everyone.
しぼり袋を使うのは皆初めての経験です。
Too beautiful to eat! きれいで食べるのがもったいないぐらい。

On the way back we stopped at the Cookie Time store. I think some of our readers will be getting some cookies when we get back to Japan. Nursing students do not worry, we are going tomorrow.
