Hello from beautiful New Zealand.
All the locals say it's to hot, but a person who grew up in the desert its perfect weather for me. 30deg and sunny. Today was the first day of lessons for the studnets. We started out with a review of the geography of New Zealand from Henk-sensei. As Henk-sensei also teaches Japanese he was able to throw in some Japanese words now and then to make the lesson easier. A great way to ease into the lessons ahead.
一行目のto hotは、too hotの間違いかな？なんちゃって！
そうですか。現地はそんなに暑いのですか。関西は最高気温が8℃前後やからエライ気温差やねんね。
勉強がいよいよ始まりましたね。なんせ、そっちで2単位やからね。しっかりお勉強してくださいよ。ジェフ先生は「評価」の専門家やから厳しいでっせ。
地理はヘンク先生に教えてもろてんね。先生は、日本語もできるから日本語と英語も交えてニュージーランドの地理を学んだのかな？でも勿論これまでカンタベリー大学の学生とも交流してきたから、英語は聞き取れるようになってきましたよね。

After lunch we had the first of the English lessons we are going to have with Judy-sensei.
午前中は、地理。午後からは英会話ですね。先生はジュディ先生。
Here Nicola-sensei is introducing Judy. She's a friend of Nicola's and used to be a high school French teacher. She has also worked in ESL in the past and often travels to Kyoto.
現地スタッフの二コラ先生から紹介されるジュディ先生。先生は、二コラ先生の元同僚。凄いね、フランス語もできるんや。二コラ先生は「関西弁」もペラペラですが、どうか学生には「英語」だけで対応してね。せやないと、学生は「英語」を話さんようになるから。
Its a great environment for the students to have a small student to teacher ratio like this. I am sure this group will get as much as they can from this very special experience.

After the lesson the students wanted to check out the mall so I showed them the way. There's a new bus stop right behind the SCC which gives really easy access to almost all of the major shopping malls in Christchurch. All the groups from now will be very happy.
モールとは、ウエストフィールド・モール（リカトン・モール）のことでしょうか？もしそうなら、日本でもよくある大型モールと同じようなモールのことです。皆さん、バスに乗った感想をブログに書いてね。日本のバスとは大分様子が違うと思いますので。ほんで、バスの先頭部分もよく観察しておいてね。全部のバスではありませんが、日本のバスには絶対無いものがついているのでね。
